For region's Latinos, enough is enough
A forgotten minority is left to simmer over three indignities

| The first half of 2010 should go down in the annals of the Capital Region's Hispanic community as a time of deep outrage. Our growing population has been tossed about by ill winds, left bereft of help and bemoaning great setbacks. |
There are three particular blows the Latino community has had to absorb, that demand inclusion in the public discourse. They are the March 20 death of Marcos DeJesus Alvarez, and the treatment of that sad event by authorities and local media; the release of New York State Community Action Associates' 2010 Report on Poverty; and the closure of Hispanic Outreach Services by Catholic Charities of the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese.
